About the role

We’re looking for an accountable project engineer to be responsible for managing all the engineering and technical disciplines that engineering projects involve.

You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical and administrative activities – aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. Based in Macclesfield and reporting directly to senior managers, you will be working around the UK and be required to travel abroad on occasion with clients and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

– Developing project objectives by reviewing project proposals, customer requirements, and conferring with management

– Determining project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, project specifications, and reviewing bids from contractors

– Determining project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements

– Administering and managing requirements of SDRL/VDRLs as required by clients

– Confirming product performance by designing and conducting inspection test plans

– Maintaining project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, resolving problems, scheduling KOMs, and keeping management updated

– Controlling project costs by working within budget and administering contractor contracts

– Ensuring project documentation, commissioning, training, and handover completed in line with project objectives and contract requirements.

Requirements and skills

– HND/HNC or degree qualified

– Proven working experience as a project engineering manager

– Excellent knowledge of design and visualisations software such as AutoCAD

– Advanced MS Office skills

– Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards

– Organisational, documentation, and supervision skills

– HAZOP and risk assessment skills

– Confident decision-maker and excellent communicator

– Experience with process plant, material handling systems, and combustion systems is desirable.
